Putting Concepts

This year my group lessons at Selkirk College will be starting on February 17.  Normally I would have had putting as the last lesson in the series of 6.  This year it will be the first lesson for the following reasons:

1. The putting stroke is the simpliest version of the golf swing.  It may be simple but it accounts for a major portion of your score.  In establishing par for a round of golf, 2 putts are factored in for every hole.  For a par 72 course, 36 putts have been factored in which is half the score.

2.  A sound pitching stroke is really your putting stroke using a club with more loft.  Pitch and run will be the second lesson.

3. The putting stroke can be reviewed every week for 6 weeks.  This is such a large part of scoring well.

4.  Over the 6 weeks of lessons, it is easy to practice your putting indoors on a putting mat.
